Terms & Conditions

REFUSAL OF SERVICE
W.A.G.S Dog Grooming reserves the right to refuse to groom any dog for the health and safety of the groomer and/or the dog. A muzzle may be used. Services may be discontinued if W.A.G.S Dog Grooming determines that a dog presents an unsafe condition. Such conditions include but are not limited to: behaviour issues, health problems and parasites. I agree to inform W.A.G.S to grooming if the dog has ever bitten any human, another dog or has any aggressive tendencies whatsoever. I understand and agree that I will be held solely liable for any harm, injury or property damage caused by my dog.

HYGIENE CLIP
Included in all of our bathing services a hygiene clip is included for all dog coats which may require one (excludes smooth coats such as Labradors/Pugs). The hygiene areas include under the armpits, down the stomach, around the groin and bum. Often wool, double and silky type coats develop knots & matting in these areas due to a lack of brushing. When clipping these areas, the risks of nicks, cuts or abrasions increases due to warts, moles or skin folds trapped in the mats. Once the coat is removed, the skin can be red due to a lack of air circulation and dirt accumulated underneath, which your pet may scratch and rub & may lead to infection if not kept clean. W.A.G.S Dog Grooming will not be responsible for any vet bills that result from shaving out these matts/knots as it is the owner’s responsibility to keep these areas free from knots/tangles and matts. Should my dog require veterinary treatment due to clipping/de-matting in the hygiene areas, I the owner am responsible for any associated costs.

ACCIDENTS & BEHAVIOUR
There is always the possibility an accident could occur. Every effort will be made to insure your pet is groomed as safely as possible. Grooming equipment is sharp, even though we use extreme caution and care in all situations, possible problems could occur including cuts, nicks, scratches, clipping of nails, etc. In most cases this can happen when a pet is wiggling or moving around. Accidents are more likely to occur due to bad behaviour such as trying to bite the groomer & or equipment. I agree that I the owner am responsible for any associated veterinary bills resulting from an accident such as a cut at W.A.G.S Dog Grooming and agree that every effort will have been made to groom as safely as possible.

CANCELLATIONS
Should I have to cancel my dog’s appointment, I agree to notify W.A.G.S Dog Grooming with more than 24 hours’ notice to the scheduled appointment. I agree that if I cancel within 24 hours or don’t show up, I will pay a 100% cancellation fee as my appointment may not have been filled. If two cancellation fees have been charged, a 100% deposit will be taken when booking the next appointment.

PARASITES
It is my duty to make sure my dog is free of parasites before entering the salon; I will use appropriate flea and tick prevention on my dog. If my dog is found to be carrying fleas, I agree to pay the associated costs of $30 which covers the extra time spent bathing your dog to remove fleas, the use of flea defence shampoo, extra clean up time including flea removal and prevention products in the salon.

If my dog suffers from any allergies, I agree that I will make W.A.G.S Dog Grooming aware of such allergies and either provide a veterinary shampoo or give W.A.G.S Dog Grooming permission to use a hypoallergenic product.

W.A.G.S Dog Grooming has my permission to do whatever they feel is appropriate for the wellbeing of my dog. Matting/Clipping Policy
We groom humanely at W.A.G.S Dog Grooming and will attempt to de-mat a coat if we feel that the animal will not suffer pain. We have specialist equipment in the salon and this will be our first port of call before considering shaving the dogs’ coat. However we will abide by the Animal Welfare Act.
It is the OWNERS duty of care towards their pet to maintain the coat between professional grooms. If owners fail to attend to their pets’ coat, then in the interests of the animal, we will shave off matted coats to prevent unnecessary suffering. We will be more than happy to show you how to look after your dogs’ coat.
When a dog is presented to us in a severely matted condition, it is our policy to shave the whole coat using electric clippers with a close blade. To de-matt would cause the animal tremendous stress and discomfort, often leaving a very thinned and damaged coat. Shaving the coat is quicker and kinder to the dog. Many dogs are traumatised by unnecessary hours of de- matting, putting them off grooming for life. We consider shaving an act of kindness.
When de-matting is necessary, both by tools or clipping; removing heavily matted coats includes the risk of nicks, cuts or abrasions due to warts, moles or skin folds trapped in the mats. If this happens, it will be brought to your attention, and we are not responsible for any vet bills. There is no excuse for a matted pet, and the groomer will do their best to see that the matts are removed without trauma to the pet. In the case of an emergency, you will be contacted for permission to take your animal to a vet for treatment. In the case you are unreachable, we will take the action that is in the best interest of your pet.
A SEVERELY MATTED DOG CAN SUFFER MANY CONDITIONS:-

Hotspots & sores
Flea infestation
Once the coat is removed, the skin can be red due to the lack of air circulation and dirt that has accumulated underneath. Occasionally there are sores or infection, this may need veterinary treatment. Dogs tend to scratch and rub their skin after shaving – this is normal, however some can over scratch and this may lead to broken skin. If in doubt speak to your vet. I agree that W.A.G.S Dog Grooming is not responsible for any veterinary bills associated with the the groom and the de- matting procedure.
NOTE: IF WE CAN DE-MAT YOUR DOG THERE WILL BE ATLEAST A $20+ CHARGE INCURRED FOR THE EXTRA TIME TAKEN TO GROOM.
IF THE COAT HAS TO BE SHAVED THERE WILL BE ATLEAST A $20 CHARGE INCURRED AS THE EQUIPMENT WILL HAVE TO BE SENT OFF FOR SHARPENING. THIS COST MAY BE EVEN HIGHER IF TIME TAKEN TO DE-MAT OR CLIP OFF TAKES AN EVEN MORE EXTENSIVE AMOUNT OF TIME.
